So, you’ve had a storm come through and you’ve made a claim… What happens next?
If your roof is leaking after the storm, your insurance company will organise for a make safe to be completed.
A make safe is a temporary repair of a roof leak and may be as simple as changing a tile, or there may be further works required for permanent rectification. Included in this service is:
Once the make safe is completed, an insurance assessor will attend the site to confirm what is storm damage and what is maintenance.
What is the difference?
Storm related damage is damage directly related to a storm. For example, high wind, falling debris, tree limbs, hail etc.
Maintenance is general wear and tear to the roof over a prolonged period of time. Generally you are made aware of maintenance issues on the roof during a storm
due to leaks. When your home is assessed for storm damage, you may be told that you require maintenance. Maintenance is the responsibility of the homeowner and
not covered by insurance.
This is why maintaining your roof is so important. If you would like a maintenance inspection completed on your roof, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Once the assessment has been completed and approved, the roofer will contact you and confirm materials. Once materials have been confirmed, they will be ordered.
Once materials are received, the roofer will contact you to schedule a booking to complete the works.

If your insurance company approves your works our repair service team will call you to:
a. Book in the tradespeople or suppliers to undertake the repairs to your home during normal business hours.
b. Assist you with repair materials selection and answer any questions you may have.
c. Ivy Roofing will repair your home subject to your insurance policy coverage. We can also offer advice and quotes on additional maintenance issues, if required.
Ivy Roofing will make all reasonable efforts to match your existing materials and or finishes. In some instances, an exact match may not be possible as the material may no longer be available. Our repair service team will discuss the available options with you.
We will endeavour to start and complete your repairs as soon as possible, however, every home is different and sometimes repairs are delayed whilst matching materials are sourced. Our repair service team will advise you of any anticipated delay or any maintenance that you need to complete prior to works commencing.
